Where is Brazil?
Brazil is on the eastern side of South America. It shares a border with almost every other country in South America, only Chile and Ecuador are untouched.
The River Amazon flows through Brazil. Over a third of Brazil is drained by the Amazon and its more than 200 tributaries.
Brazil includes much of the world's biggest rain forest around the Amazon.
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world after Canada, the Russian Federation, China and the United States.

The capital of Brazil is Brasilia and the official language is Portuguese.
Brazil is the only Latin American nation that derives its language and culture from Portugal. Contrary to what some people think, Brazil has only one language (Portuguese!) and no dialects (only different accents and slangs like the US and Uk have for example).
Brazil's winter lasts from June to August, with temperatures between 13 and 18C. Summer is from December to February.
