The Titanic

The Titanic was built in 1912, in Ireland. She was 269m by 28m. She had a post office and squash court! The Titanic had 16 parts on the bottom floor. If four of the parts got water in the ship would still sail on but if 5 got full it would sink!! The captain of the ship was Edward John Smith. On the fourth day of the voyage the ship hit an ice berg and 5 parts of the bottom floor filled up with water. So the ship sank. Lots of people stayed on the ship because they thought it was an unsinkable ship. Many people died because there was only half the amount of life boats for the people. The ship was going too fast. The Titanic called the SOS and a ship 96km away heard it and came to help but when it got there the ship had sunk. They picked up the survivors and took them to new York. Dr Robert found the remains of the Titanic in 1985. On his last visit to the ship he left a plaque honouring the 1500 victims and asking that other explorers left the ship undisturbed.
