Information about the Titanic

The Titanic was a very big ship, and it was carrying 891 crew and 1317 passengers. The ship was travelling to New York. She was built in Belfast, Ireland 1912. It was the most luxurious ship ever built. The captain named Edward John Smith was a very experienced sailor, who had captained other White Starl Line ships on their maiden voyages.

The Titanic crashed because the waters had turned icy, and the ship thought that it would be able to get through the icebergs calmly but it crashed into one, that made a very big hole in the side of it. The ship was special because the people that built it didn’t think that it would sink. One of the materials used to make the ship was steel, which is very strong and hard.

The reason why so many people died was because, when the iceberg made the hole in the side of the ship the water was only set to go into four compartments but it flooded more than four and that’s how most of the people died, because they couldn’t escape. One of the other reasons why so many people died was because, they wanted to escape and the water was to cold and icy.
