Please don't fly the Union Flag

Back to the start of the sory of the British Flag

We have been sent in so many examples of the Unon flag being flown upside down that we have created this new page (see original page). It is "lese Majeste" (which means: insulting the Crown), and is theoretically still a crime in the UK and its commonwealth to fly the Union flag upside down!

With thanks to David Webb for sending us the following images with the flag unfortunately being displayed the wrong way up.

The yellow rectangle highlights how you can tell when the flag is upside down. The broader (wider) diagonal white stripe should be at the top left hand side of the flag nearest the flagpole.

David Webb spotted Union flag upside down on the the Cook Island's flag below during the Island Parish programme about the Scilly Isle people.
