Welcome to our Contact Project Britain page! Here you can learn a little more about how our website started and how you can share your thoughts and ideas with us. Project Britain is a very special place online, full of exciting information about British history, geography, and culture.
This website was first created many years ago by a dedicated teacher called Mandy Barrow. She wanted to help children, just like you, discover the wonders of Britain. It started as a small project for Woodlands Junior School in Kent, England, and has grown into a much-loved resource used by children and teachers all over the world.
Imagine a time when the internet was quite new! That’s when Mandy Barrow, a teacher at Woodlands Junior School, had a brilliant idea. She wanted to create a website that would be a treasure chest of information for her pupils. This was back in the early 2000s, and it was quite revolutionary for a primary school to have such a comprehensive online resource.
Mandy spent countless hours researching, writing, and designing the pages. She wanted to make learning fun and easy to understand. The website quickly became popular, not just with her own students, but with children and teachers across the United Kingdom and even further afield. It was a real pioneer in online education for young learners.
You can find out more about the history of the site by visiting our About Us page.
We love hearing from our visitors! Your ideas and feedback are very important to us. Perhaps you’ve read about a fascinating British tradition, like Guy Fawkes Night, and have a question. Or maybe you’ve learned something new about famous British landmarks, such as the Tower of London, and want to tell us what you enjoyed most.
Your suggestions help us make Project Britain even better. We are always looking for new topics to explore or ways to improve the information we share. This website is a living project, always growing and changing, just like Britain itself!
Because Project Britain is designed for children, we ask that any direct contact, especially from younger users, is made with the help of a parent or teacher. This helps us ensure that all communications are safe and appropriate for everyone.
If you are a teacher, parent, or guardian and have a suggestion for a new topic, a correction, or general feedback about the website, we would be delighted to hear from you. Your insights are invaluable as we continue to develop and update Project Britain for future generations of learners.
You can send your feedback to us at:
| Email Address: | feedback@projectbritain.com |
| Who to address: | The Project Britain Team |
Please remember that while we read all feedback, we may not be able to reply to every single email personally. However, every message helps us understand what you like and what could be improved.
Mandy Barrow dedicated many years of her life to creating and maintaining Project Britain. Her passion for teaching and her love for British history and culture shine through every page of this website. She believed that learning should be an adventure, full of interesting stories and discoveries.
Even after leaving Woodlands Junior School, Mandy continued to work on Project Britain, ensuring it remained a free and accessible resource for children everywhere. Her tireless efforts have helped millions of children around the world learn about the United Kingdom, from its ancient castles to its modern customs. She truly is a pioneer in online education.
Her work is a wonderful example of how one person’s dedication can create something that benefits so many. You can explore many of the topics she loved, such as British History, British Culture, and even fun facts about British Food.
Project Britain continues to be a fantastic resource thanks to the original vision of Mandy Barrow and the ongoing support from its users. By using the website, exploring its pages, and sharing your ideas (with adult help!), you are helping to keep this wonderful learning tool alive and thriving.
We hope you continue to enjoy your journey through Britain with us. Keep exploring, keep learning, and keep sharing your curiosity about this amazing country!

Information about my calendars
"I am and American citizen and astounded by your wonderful website! It is not only informative but kept so up to date that I constantly refer to it, especially the calendar. The pupils of your school are indeed lucky and the site reflects the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff and students. I hope the site continues for many years." Charles, USA, Atlanta "I was searching the web yesterday for a website that would give me a calendar of significant days and weeks throughout the year. I was really struggling until I came across your website and was instantly blown away. I know you have already received lots of praise for your efforts but your site is the most impressive schools website I have seen. Often the amount of time and effort put into creating such a resource is not matched by its usefulness. Your calendars in particular are second to none. Thank you and well done." David, Deputy Headteacher "EXCELLENT information of the customs and traditions of Great Britain........some of which are in danger of being lost or forgotten forever. THANKS for such an interesting site! " Karen "As a childminder I like to celebrate festivals and awareness days with the little ones. This was the best and most comprehensive list I found on the net." "Information about awareness days and special dates to help me plan my youth work programme." "I am British but now living in the US. I needed to know when Mothers' Day is in the UK. (In the USA it is always in May. In 2007 it is on May 13 this year. I didn't want my mother to think I had forgotten her - in March! Now she'll get two cards - one in March and one in May but she deserves to be applauded twice!" "Thank you for all the information i have found relating to feasts and festivals as a teacher it has given me an insite to the history i needed to teach to primary children" Julie, Northampton England "This is a fantastic website. I am a headteacher planning this terms assemblies and came accross your site through REonline. It is full of useful well presented information. I can use a lot of it in my assemblies and I will be recommending that my staff use it with children. We are an infant school but the way you present the information is so accessible that I feel we could use it. Thank you."
