By tradition scarlet uniforms are worn by The Queen’s Swan Marker and Swan Uppers. The Queen’s Swan Marker bears a scarlet tunic and a captain’s hat crowned with a white feather.

The Queen’s Swan Marker role is to count, measure and ring the newly hatched cygnets and ensure that the Queen’s swans are healthy and not threatened by environmental factors or human agency.

Navy blue uniforms are worn by Vintners’ Swan Marker and Swan Uppers.
