James Smith — Casino Editor
I write and edit the audits on this site. Every casino ranked across these pages has been tested by me personally, with a £200 deposit, 24 hours of play, and a withdrawal cycle measured to the minute. The work isn't outsourced and the rankings aren't pay-to-play — they reflect what I observed during the audit window, full stop.
Background
I have spent the past nine years writing about UK gambling, with the last four focused specifically on the offshore non-GamStop sector. Before this site I worked across UK affiliate publications and a UKGC-licensed operator's compliance team — the latter is where I learned what dispute resolution actually looks like at a regulator-backed casino, and why the absence of that backstop at non-GamStop sites is the central question every player needs to weigh.
I am not personally registered with GamStop. I run two test accounts at every casino I review — one funded by Visa debit and one by Revolut, and a third by BTC where the casino accepts crypto. The accounts are mine and the deposits are mine; nothing is operator-funded.
The audit cycle
Every quarter I run a fresh audit on every site listed in our toplist. The May 2026 cycle reflected on the home page tested 50 candidate sites; 15 survived. The May cycle followed the November 2025 cycle (40 candidates, 12 survived) and the August 2025 cycle (35 candidates, 9 survived). The number of candidates rises as new operators launch — the pass rate has stayed roughly 25-35% across the cycles I've run, which is consistent with what I observe in the wider market.
If you spot a discrepancy between what I've written about a casino and what you experience as a player, email me. I read every reply and treat data corrections seriously.
Why the byline matters
Most non-GamStop "best of" lists are unsigned. That's not an accident. An unsigned list is one nobody on the publishing side is willing to defend, which lets the operator funding the affiliate decide ranking position. When a site puts a real name on a page, it puts a person between the operator and the reader — someone who can be reached for corrections, asked to defend a methodology, or held accountable when a ranked operator turns out to be untrustworthy. I'd rather take that responsibility than hide behind an editorial collective.
Get in touch
Editorial questions and data corrections: contact@projectbritain.com. I aim to reply within two working days. For commercial enquiries (advertising, paid placement requests, media kit) the same address works — but the answer to "can I pay to rank higher" is the same one in every reply, so save us both the round trip. I cannot help with individual account or withdrawal issues at any operator — those need to go through the casino's own support channel and, if unresolved, the regulator route described on our methodology page.
