Here in Spain Mother’s Day is always celebrated on the first Sunday in May.
In Viet Nam Mother’s Day is always on 8 March. People, from primary pupils to old men, go visit ladies and give flowers to them with best wishes or sometimes woth cakes or special gifts depending on their relationship. In office they organize party for ladies to join in and treat the ladies for their contribution and hard work during the year. Children offer flowers and gifts to their mothers.
Mother’s Day in the US is merely a commercial Hallmark Card day along with Mother-in-Law’s day.
Here in Australia, when we go to church on Mothers Day, which is the 2nd Sunday in May (13th next year 2007) we Mums get presented with small handmade items, like flowers or bookmarks. I have a bookmark that has some pretty beads threaded onto a length of plaited embroidery silks.
Fathers Day is the 1st Sunday in September and small handmade items are given to Dads when they arrive at church too. And because I now live in a country that has palm trees, on Palm Sunday, we are sometimes given small crosses made from palm leaves.
I am english but I moved here in 1991. I live in a small suburb called Bethania, which is about 35kms from the city of Brisbane, on the southside, in the state of Queensland. Qld is on the east coast of Australia.

Well for mothers day in england i usually celebrate by making my mum feel special, i’ll either go and buy her plants, so that these keep living on, and not flowers as they soon die. I also on occasion make her a card, or buy her one. And i always cook her a meal.
Thats how i celebrate mothers day and i take it fairly serious as my mum deserves the best!!
I am English, living in France and on the same day that Mothering Sunday is celebrated in the UK, it is Grandmother’s Day here and lots of flowers are given to Mamie (French for grandma) by her grandchildren.
Also in Austria is Mother’s Day always on the Second Sunday in May.
In Thialand, Mother’s Day falls on 12 August of every year as we celebrate our beloved Queen Sirikit’s birth anniversary. It is also a national holiday, and people normally give presents or cards to their mother and some also take her out to a nice meal as a special treat and thanksgiving for her never failing affection and life-long sacrifice. There are also street decorations to celebrate Queen Sirikit’s birthday, and people and official places will put up the national flag to mark the event. The Queen herself will make public appearance and give a special speech to people in the early evening, which is broadcast live to those who are not fortunate enough to attend the ceremony. It’s a very special day all in all, as the significance of motherhood realised in every culture testifies.
In Azerbaijan, where I live, the important day is 8 March, International Women’s day. It is a Public Holiday for Men and Women and gifts (of cakes, flowers or anything else appropriate)can be given to all women in your life. For your mother, your sister, your secretary and your cleaner. Some of the shop windows before International Women’s Day look a little like just before St Valentines in the UK, with lots of roses and hearts.
Mothering Sunday in Brazil was first organised in 1918 by the YMCA on 12th May in Porto Alegre RS & made a national holiday in 1932 by President Getalio Vargas who was born in Porto Alegre. It is celebrated in much the same way as in the UK.
Is there a separate Grandmothers Day celebrated In UK? Other than on mothers day?

Here in the Province of Antwerp (not Belgium as a whole!) Mother’s Day is celebrated on 15 August – the Day of the Assumption, when Mary Mother of Jesus was taken up into Heaven. I believe it is also celebrated on 15 August in Costa Rica.
Mother’s Day is also held on the second Sunday in May in South Africa and Father’s Day is on the third Sunday in June.
Here in Palestine and Jordan Mother’s day is celebrated on the 21st of March every year it doesn’t mater wich day it might be.Happy Mother’s Day for all the mothers.
