Is the UK about to break up?

The United Kingdom was formed three hundred years ago. (You can read the story here).

Devolution has brought about major constitutional changes within the United Kingdom. Scotland now has its own parliament and Wales and Northern Ireland their own assemblies. (England has neither a parliament nor an assembly) Each nation is now fighting for its own independence. Could this be the beginning of the break up of the UK?

More teenagers see themselves as English, Scottish or Welsh rather than British
A YouGov poll carried out by the Daily Telegraph found that fewer than one third of today’s teenagers instinctively think of themselves as British rather than English, Scottish or Welsh. But, pressed to say whether they also think of themselves as British, the great majority say yes. Only 10 per cent of the teenage sample, many of them Scots, reject a British identity altogether.

Most people want the United Kingdom broken up
An ICM poll published by the Daily Mail suggested that majorities of voters in both Scotland and England now want the countries to split.

WHY DOES THE UK HAVE TO BREAK UP NOW,THEY ARE A STRONG GROUP OF COUNTRIES TOGETHER IF PEOPLE WORK TOGETHER THEY COULD PROBABALY FIGHT WAR,POVERTY,SICKNESS,CANCER AND GLOBAL WARMING! THEY DO NOT NEED TO SPLIT, THEY JUST NEED THEMSELFES AS SEPERATE COUNNTRIES WORKING TOGETHER.

Why should a Nation be denied its Independence? The 1707 Union has long outlived its usefulness and Scotland and England would be far happier independent of each other. With a separate legal, education and established Church already, Holyrood needs full control over all affairs relating to Scotland and not just ‘snippets’ approved by the Westminster Parliament. Independence is best for both Countries!

It is high time that the only country fobbed off with ‘Britishness’should join Scotland, Wales and Ireland and become an independent sovereign nation again.
Our parliament is overrun with Scots who have been elected in Scottish constituencies as well as Welsh representatives, and these MP’s vote on such items as healthcare for England, top up fees for English students and cancer drugs for English patients. An English MP however cannot go to The Scottish Parliament or Welsh Assembly and cast votes which affect the lives of their people.
The union has been found out for what it is or was, a convenient way of mustering soldiers and sailors for wars on foreign soils at the whim of a British Empire that no longer exists.
The Scots and Welsh have gone their own way since devolution began in 1997 and good luck to them.
It is now time for the sole representative of this relic, Little Britain, to re-establish itself as England again. We are after all Europe’s oldest nation state, having been formed in 937 during King Athelstan’s rule and we should not let a mere 299 years of colonialism hold us back.

There is a concerted effort by our Scots-led Government to break up England into spurious regions.
England is to no longer exist.
This is for the sake of the so-called United Kingdom. Please note that Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are to remain intact. This why Scotsman Gordon Brown talks about the “nations and regions of Britain”. The nations are bonnie Scotland (first and foremost naturally), Wales and Northern Ireland, while the regions are a fragmented country once known as England disempowered with a disenfranchised people. This is why Gordon Brown rarely mentions England.
The late Robin Cook (a Scot) said “England isn’t a nation, it’s only a collection of regions”
John Prescott (Welsh) said “there’s no such nationality as English”.
Charles Kennedy (Scot) said “in England devolution is moving at such a pace it is bringing into question the very existence of England itself”
With “fellow Brits” like that as friends who needs enemies?
If it’s a choice between England remaining intact and the Union fragmenting, or the Union remaining intact and England fragmenting, I’ll choose England to remain intact thanks.
Imagine how it would be if after England were bust up into weak Euro-regions, Scotland and Wales then went independent!
Nobody has come up with a valid argument as to what England gets out of the Union. All I see is a big fat subsidy bill for England to keep Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland afloat and a load of moaning from them in return.

“Britishness” (whatever that is) is only to be indoctrinated into English schoolchildren, not Englishness. Scottishness will continue to be taught in Scottish schools and Welhness in Welsh schools. This was admitted by Geoff Hoon and Harriet Harman.
Therefore what it means to be English these days is that when in England you get Britishness rammed down your throat, but the moment you step across a border into Scotland or Wales you get your Englishness rammed down your throat.
